The Yavapai County Courts website also has information about traffic citations. The site explains your rights, payment options, and what happens if you fail to respond to a ticket.

What Happens If You Ignore a Yavapai County Traffic Ticket

Whether you have a civil or criminal citation, you must respond by the court date on your ticket. Failure to do so brings serious consequences that cost more than the original fine.

If you do not respond to a civil traffic ticket, the court enters a default judgment against you. A monetary penalty is assessed automatically. Your license may be suspended. MVD can place a hold on your vehicle registration. The case may go to collections, adding more fees. A late payment fee is also added to your balance.

Criminal traffic violations have even more serious consequences. Failure to appear can result in a warrant for your arrest. The criminal charge of Failure to Appear is added to your case. This can follow you on your record even after you resolve the original ticket.

Note: Responding on time is always cheaper and simpler than dealing with the penalties for missing your court date.

Paying Yavapai County Traffic Tickets

You can pay traffic fines online through AZCourtPay or at the court in person. The online system accepts credit and debit cards. A convenience fee applies to online payments.

Paying your ticket means you admit responsibility. Points go on your driving record. You give up your right to a hearing and cannot take defensive driving school. If you want to contest the ticket or attend traffic school to avoid points, contact the court before paying.

Payment plans may be available for people who cannot pay the full fine at once. Contact your court to request a plan. You must make this request before your court date passes. A time payment fee applies, and missing payments brings additional penalties.
