You can search for traffic tickets through the Arizona Public Access to Court Case Information system. This database covers both Greenlee County Justice Courts. Enter a name, case number, or citation number to find records.

Paying Greenlee County Traffic Tickets

Greenlee County Justice Courts accept payments through AZCourtPay online. You need your citation or case number to pay. The system accepts credit and debit cards with a convenience fee.

In-person payments are accepted at either court location during business hours. Remember that Clifton court is only open Monday through Thursday. You can mail payments by check or money order to the court address on your ticket.

Paying your citation means you accept responsibility. Points go on your driving record. If you want to fight the ticket or take defensive driving school, contact the court before paying.

Defensive Driving School in Greenlee County

Arizona law allows most drivers to take defensive driving school to dismiss a traffic ticket. The program is officially called Traffic Survival School when ordered by the court for serious violations. For standard tickets, you can request the option before paying or pleading guilty. This keeps points off your record and prevents insurance increases.

You must request defensive driving school at least seven days before your court date. Call the court to get approval. You cannot use this option if you have already taken traffic school for another ticket in the past 12 months. CDL holders cannot use traffic school to dismiss tickets received while driving commercial vehicles.

After the court approves your request, you have specific deadlines to complete the course. Classes are available online or in person. You must submit your completion certificate to the court by the deadline or you will be found responsible for the original violation.

US-191 Traffic Enforcement

US Highway 191 is the main route through Greenlee County. This winding mountain road connects Clifton to Morenci and continues north into Apache County. State troopers and county deputies patrol this highway regularly. Speed limits change often along the route, and enforcement is strict in the mining areas near Morenci.

The highway sees heavy truck traffic from the Freeport-McMoRan copper mine. Passing zones are limited, and violations for improper passing or following too close are common. The road conditions change with elevation, and winter driving can be hazardous. If you got a ticket on US-191, it likely goes to Clifton Justice Court.

Greenlee County Sheriff

The Greenlee County Sheriff handles law enforcement throughout the county. For questions about traffic stops or accident reports, contact the Sheriff at 928-865-4149 or email eric.ellison@greenlee.az.gov.

Court records and sheriff records are separate. The court has your ticket, case status, and payment information. The sheriff has any underlying reports from the traffic stop. If you need a copy of an accident report for insurance purposes, contact the sheriff's office directly.
